A SIBO breath test is a non-invasive procedure that measures the levels of hydrogen and methane in a person’s breath to diagnose small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). After drinking a mixture of glucose and water, the patient’s breath is sampled at specific intervals to assess the concentration of these gases. A sharp rise in hydrogen and methane levels may suggest the presence of SIBO.
