IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PATIENTS BY MELBOURNE DIGESTIVE CENTRE

We advise that, recently 20^th April 2020, there was a burglary at the practice; during which one computer, a server and an external hard drive were stolen. The Police have been notified and are actively investigating the matter. The data was fully-backed up and retained. It is likely that the practice hardware will be either recovered, or has been destroyed.

However, there remains the possibility that information contained on these devices, although password protected, may be hacked and accessed. We advise that these devices contained personal details, including date of birth, address and phone number, Medicare and/or private health insurance number, and medical records relating to the treatment of patients hereover the past 20 years. No financial records or information were on the devices.

If it appears to you, at some time in the future, that this information has been hacked, please advise us.
